What is NDA exam?
Every year UPSC conducts the NDA exam twice. It is conduced in two stages- Written exam and SSB interview.
NDA 1 2023
UPSC has released the important dates regarding NDA 1 2023 in its official website.
· NDA 1 2023 notification – Dec 21, 2022
· Online Registration for NDA 1 2023 starts – Dec 21, 2022
· Last date to apply for NDA 2023 – Jan 10, 2023
· NDA 1 2023 Exam date – April 16, 2023
· NDA 1 2023 Result declaration – May 2023
UPSC NDA 2023 Eligibility Criteria
· Nationality – The aspirant should be one of the following-
Ø An Indian citizen or
Ø A subject or Nepal or Bhutan or
Ø A Tibetan refuge who come to India before 1st January 1962 or
Ø Individuals of Indian origin who have migrated from these countries – Burma, S. Lanka, Pakistan , Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia Malawi ,Zaire and Vietnam.
· Education Qualification for NDA 2023 –
Ø Air force and Naval wings- Candidates must have passed 12th or appearing, in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
Ø Army wing – Candidates who are 12th pass can apply.
· NDA 2023 Age Limit–
For NDA 1 2023, the candidates who are born not before July 02, 2023 and not
after July 1, 2006 are eligible.
· Marital status
Both male and female candidates must be unmarried through out the selection process and till the training is completed.
NDA 2023 Exam Patten
· It consists of Paper I (Mathematics) and Paper II (General Ability Test)
· Total time allotted- 2.5 hours for each exam
· Paper will be objective Type and bilingual.

Negative marks- -0.83
Paper-II
No of Questions -150
Total Marks-600
Marks for correct answers- +4
Negative marks- -1.33
The candidate who clears the cut off for written examination will be selected for SSB interview.
NDA SSB interview-
It comprises two stages.
Stage I- Officer Intelligence Rating Test (OIR)
It consists of Screening Test and verbal and Non-verbal Test
Stage 2- Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PPDT)

Ø Word Association Test (WAT)
Ø Situation Reaction Test (SRT)
Ø Self Description Test (SD)
· Group Task –
o Group Discussion (GD) Group
o Group planning Exercise (GPE)
o Progressive Group Task (PGT)
o Half Group Task (HGT)
o Individual Obstacles Task (IOT)
o Command Task
o Snake race/Group Obstacle Race
o Individual lecture
o Final Group Task (FGT)
· Personal Interview
After SSB, find merit is generated for the final recruitment.
NDA Document Verification
Last stage is Document Verification. All the below mentioned documents are checked,
· Qualification certificate
· Identity proof
· Birth certificate
· Category certificate for the Reserved category candidates
· Residence Proof
At last medical examination is done. It is the final stage of the selection process
